Filip Pizlo / Photography

I'm a PhD student in compuer science at Purdue University who also likes to take some pictures. I've been doing it for over ten years. I like to photograph everything from landscapes to models. This page has some of my best photos, split up according to categories:

Color Landscapes

I started out by shooting landscapes. I still do it sometimes. Most of these photos are shot on film, though the more recent ones are digital. I've used a variety of equipment: a Canon 20D, Yashica Mat 124G, Leica M4-2, EOS 1v, and a Bessa-R. About half of these are from Arizona; the rest are from California, Indiana, Washington, Poland, and Brazil.

Fashion and Glamour

Fashion and glamour photography is my latest interest. Photographing a model gives me more control than the other styles, since I can pick any combination of setting and pose that suits my tastes. Here you will find images taken with a variety of talented models from around the country. Locations include Indiana, Illinois, Nevada, California, Washington, and New York. All of these images are digital, and were taken with either my 20D or my 30D.

Black and White

Notable black and white images, featuring a variety of subjects - including landscape, street, portraiture, live performance, and still life. Many of these images were taken with a Leica M4-2; this remains my most potent tool for doing classic black and white work. Some images were taken with a Yashica Mat 124G, EOS 1v, EOS 20D, EOS D30, or a Bessa-R. Locations include California, Washington, Indiana, Washington D.C., and Poland.

Color Abstract

Colorful images of weird subjects. I see these as abstract images, as their main draw is from the combination of colors rather than the subject they depict. These were shot with my EOS 20D, EOS 1v, Leica M4-2, Praktica MTL5b, and Yashica Mat 124G.

The Rest

Images that lack category. This includes self-portraits and pictures of friends. All these are shot with an EOS 20D.
